Forward for the Emperor

Over the Christmas I manged to get in a few games of 40k in thanks to Franco organizing a mixed doubles event with the DGG and TLC. Mixed doubles means one player from each club is paired with a member from the other and they both bring 1000 point army to the table.  The event was billed as friendly event but with the DGG and TLC involved treachery and deceit is never far away. To circumvent any possible treachery I rocked in with Imperial guard, backed-up by a super heavy in the form of a Stormlord with air support from a Thunderbolt and an Inquistor thrown in for divination on the stormlord (I am still giggilng when I think of the list).

Another round of Bolt(er) action

On a trip back home I manged to get a game of bolt(er) action (40K setting with bolt actions rules underneath).  The mission was based on Skirmish Campaign's defiant confrontation mission.  The setting is a platoon of imperial Guard arrive at a habitat intent on securing area and denying to the rebels. While the Rebels are trying to prevent the imperials from gaining a foothold.

Bolt(er) Action TM

Bolt(er) action battle feild

A new month and a new game to try out. This time the game of choice was Bolt Action. Warlord games WW2 squad level game. I am still on the fence about buying models for the  game so which we switched the WW2 setting for 40K and threw down some cultists to face off against some Imperial Guard. One of the editors claimed Bolt Action was simliar to 2nd edition 40K with the focus on infantry squads with the other arms providing support.
