WIP (FOW): Task force Butler, AKA task force A

The first American outfit rolls on to the painting table. Battlefront have been giving the Americans a lot of attention recently and I have been bitten by the bug. Task Force Butler is drawn from the Task Force A list from Turning Tide book. With a few tweaks it can morph into a cavalry reconnaissance, tank destroyer, tank or light tank company depending on the need. So as a first list it is pretty flexible.

Task Force Butler

Forged in Battle and battlefront M20 armoured cars

Mechanised -Confident Trained

Squadron command HQ A Troop 117th Cavalry Reconnaissance
with 2 M8 armoured cars
70
1st platoon A troop 117th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron
with 2 cavalry recon patrols
140
2nd platoon A troop 117th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron
with 2 cavalry recon patrols
140
3rd platoon, C company, 636th tank destroyer battalion
With two tank destroyer sections
320
4th platoon, C company, 636th tank destroyer battalion
With two tank destroyer sections
320

Support elements

2nd platoon, A company, 753rd tank battalion*
with 5 shermans (75mm)
450
2nd platoon E troop 117th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron*
with 5 stuarts
310

*= confident veterans

Forged in Battle and battlefront jeeps

Tactics wise the cavalry patrols push forward to secure good locationS for the tank destroyers. The Stuarts acts as a reserve for the patrols if they need a force multipler. The tank destroyer engage enemy armour from ambush. The Shermans act as another reserve if required (or more likely just fire smoke at King Tigers when ever they appear).

Forged in battle M8 and jeeps make up the cavalry patrols

Battle Front Armour make up the Tanks and Tank destroyer elements

Nice! Task Force A is confident trained though, aren't they?

It's definitely a super fun force! I love the choices you've made with all the recon, boatloads of tanks and TDs. A very fast, in your face army!

good catch. The tanks are veterans but the cavalry is trained

TFA cant get Vet Tank support, only from 3rd & 6th AD and they are confident.

I always make my Recon Platoons, with a Platoon of 3 patrols and a Platoon of 1 Patrol. That way if I meet an all Armored force, with no infantry support. I can field the big platoon as in infantry platoon of 3 Carbine teams & 3 Bazooka teams.
