WIP (FOW); Flak platoon Sd Kfz 251/21

Shot that one

Sd Kfz 251/21(drilling) was one of Germany's attempts to protect its armies from marauding aircraft. Essentially it is several co-axial light autocannons on to pedastial and mounted Sd Kfz 251. FoW you can get three to the six of them in a platoon.

This project has made mixed progress. On the negative side the half tracks were supposed to be magnetized so the triple machine can be replaced with the 2cm auto cannon if required. However. I do not seem to be having any luck with magnets. I am not sure why. So the triple machince gun is fixed in place. Another low light was for some reason the undercoat was not great. It was dam cold when the models were primed and the undercoat is much more grainier than what is normal. This caused a problem with a decals making then shiner than normal.

That said I think they turn out alright. A full unit would normally cost 70-80 euros but I was able to make them for roughly half of that by getting a PSC halftrack box and ordering some drilling platforms from Skyterx.  The only conversion work is removing some of the seating from inside the half and drilling a pilot hole for the drilling platform (simples). I am undecided if I should add mode baggage to the models, it would help to cover up the decals and add a bit more realism to the models but might not be worth the effort.
