Prina Regimental |
Hmm, there seems to be a lot of cobwebs on this blog. Not much to chronicle when you are lock down. Any way this is post is intend to document my current how to" for making flags for imaginations. Partly inspired by Beast of war guys I have been playing around with Photopea. It is like photoshoot but without the price tag. The Prina regimental flag is the most fancy flag I can currently make. I like how the distortion ripples bend the image to match the folds in the cloth. It is very nice and worth considering for 28mm flags. But most of my flags are for 18mm and are done in batches ten or more flags so the extra effort for the smaller scale in a larger number does not really pay off.
Currently I have three mains types of flags
Cavalry pennons for smaller flags like Bayreuth Dragoons Squadron shown below. The pennon is 0.5 cm high and a face 0.75 cm long. There is .5cm spacer between the two faces to wrap around the flag

Big cavalry or small infantry flags intended for bigger cavalry standards, smaller infantry standards or big infantry standards were the standard bearers hands get in the way. An example is the Cuirassiers du Roy regimental standard. The flag is 1cm high and a face 1 cm long. There is 0.5cm spacer between the two faces to wrap around the flag.
Big infantry flags intend for the biggest infantry standard. The flag is 1.6 high and a face is 1.6cm long with a .5cm space between faces. An example is the Catamarca regimental flag belowI did try a fourth flag size mixing the small and big infantry flags. The flag is 1.6 high and a face is 1.6cm long with a .5cm space between faces. An example is below for the Valencia Volunteers regiment but it look a little odd on the model.
That is all for now thanks for stopping by
