Going Tribal with Eureka miniatures

At Crisis 2019 Richard from the Militia picked up Tribal a rules set by Eureka miniatures aimed at small scale skirmish with a strong tones of ritual combat. Think Maoris doing the haka as a prelude to combat or Aztecs with their jaguar warriors trying to capture sacrifice for their gods.

We opted to try the setting in the Trojan war with a party of Trojans facing off against some Greeks. The game mechanics are impressively elegant with movement, combat etc determined by cards. Movement used the edge of the cards for distance and to determine coherence, while the value and suit of the card determine the combat effect. It is possible to win the game without inflicting a single casualty on the enemy instead focusing heroic performance and generally making the opponent look like a fool in battle. I have looked at nearly a dozen rules set since playing the game but this one still sticks in my mind simple elegance.

That is all for now thanks for stopping by.
